As part of the reopening of the new Louis Vuitton menswear store at Berlin’s KaDeWe, a special illustrative project was created that blends fashion, urban culture, and artistic interpretation. For this occasion, I was invited to draw iconic Berlin landmarks live and freehand on large-format posters, thereby creating a visual bridge between local identity and international luxury.
Berlin landmarks sketched with black markers
Using black markers, I created a series of minimalist, graphic renderings in A3 format of well-known landmarks such as the Victory Column and the Brandenburg Gate. The deliberately loose, sketch-like lines give the images an immediate, lively quality and emphasize the creative essence of the moment.
Surreal illustrations with an urban setting
By placing these landmarks against a surreal-looking canyon backdrop, an intriguing visual contrast was created, giving the images an almost illusionistic effect. As a result, these well-known Berlin landmarks appear to be detached from their urban context and transported into an unexpected, vast landscape.
The result was a series of works that play with perception and context, inviting viewers to rediscover familiar cityscapes. The combination of iconic architecture, graphic minimalism, and surreal settings transformed the project into an artistic interpretation of Berlin, situated at the intersection of reality and imagination.
