To mark the opening of the new Apollo Optik store in the heart of Frankfurt, I had the pleasure of attending the opening night as an illustrator and capturing the invited guests in quick, personalized portraits. Amid the festive atmosphere of the store, surrounded by the new world of eyewear, a lively dialogue unfolded between customers and the various eyewear designs.
Aesthetic portraits of people wearing glasses
Each guest was portrayed wearing their favorite pair of glasses, creating a direct link between their personality and the product in every image. As a result, the illustrations not only captured the guests’ individual charisma but also highlighted the distinctive aesthetic of each eyewear model.
Captured moments through spontaneous sketches
All portraits were created in A5 format using colored pencils and watercolors. The combination of fine lines, soft color gradients, and a spontaneous, sketch-like quality resulted in vibrant, expressive works that immediately capture the essence of the event.
Live illustration was a key part of the store opening, transforming the evening into a personal experience where guests could take each drawing home as a unique memento of this special occasion.
